Sinusitis/Nasal Polyps:

Nasal Breathing

Nasal obstruction and congestion from sinusitis or nasal polyps are frustrating problems which affect your sleep, concentration, athletic performance and general quality of life. Fortunately, we have treatments which help! If medication in the form of pills, nasal irrigations and nasal sprays fail to adequately control symptoms, some patients may require in-office procedures or surgery. Sinus and Nasal Polyp surgery is a procedure aimed at treating chronic or recurrent sinusitis. The surgery involves widening the sinus openings, removing blockages, or repairing structural issues in the sinuses. These are considered minimally invasive endoscopic procedures, performed under general anesthesia which helps expedite recovery.

The inability to effectively breath through one's nose is a common problem that has wide ranging negative effects on a person’s health. When nasal sprays and breathing appliances fail to provide adequate relief, our surgeons at Advocare ENT Specialty Center are able to surgically address each patient’s unique problem. Nasal breathing surgery encompasses various procedures aimed at improving airflow through the nose, addressing issues like a deviated septum, nasal valve collapse, or chronic congestion. Depending on the specific concern, surgical techniques might involve straightening the septum, reducing turbinate size, or reconstructing the nasal valves to enhance breathing. These surgeries can be performed under general or local anesthesia, often using minimally invasive endoscopic methods to minimize discomfort and recovery time. Recovery usually involves a few days of mild discomfort or congestion, followed by gradual improvement in breathing over several weeks.
